The Durham family name has been synonymous with quality building in the Cleveland local area and nationwide construction industry since 1960.
Durham Construction Trade Institute (DCTI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The school was founded in 2009 by Quinton Durham, Sr.—who has over 50 years of building and developing experience, and all board members have a strong interest in collective work and responsibility.
During the 1980s, Durham Brothers Construction was one of the largest independently owned and operated minority-based construction companies in Cleveland, Ohio and surrounding areas.
With extensive knowledge of the construction industry as a demolitions contractor, businessman, and mentor, Quinton Durham, Sr., himself, is responsible for planning, leading teams of tradesmen and fervently executing hundreds of renovations, restorations, rehabs and developing new residential and commercial structures from the ground up. His years of commitment to the construction industry has led to his continued advocacy of training under-represented, minority men and women to learn this career as a viable pathway to success, in a world that is seemingly inundated with technology-based and customer service jobs.
Our primary location is 4447 Lee Road in Cleveland, Ohio 44128; however, we have our off-site learning center located at 7100 Kinsman Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44104.

A strong commitment to the trades and the use of the trades to improve the economic and social fabric of the community has resulted in the donation of thousands of dollars of construction work to individuals and churches over the years. It was in his effort to share his expertise, that Quinton Durham, Sr. began this formal vocational program to train people like you in the construction trades and to offer homeowners the opportunity to learn home improvement skills.
The founder’s vision is to establish and operate a hands-on, construction training institute dedicated to training men and women for the local workforce, focusing on those who are under-represented and hard to employ, thus improving the quality of individual lives and contributing to the overall improvement and economic fabric of the Greater Cleveland area.
Now, in 2018 Durham Construction Trade Institute focuses on training heavy machine operators and highway concrete form laborers, placing them in positions with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local Union 212, the Union of Operating Engineers Local 18, Building Laborers Union Local 310 and Laborers Local Union 860, through an ongoing community partnerships with The American Center for Economic Equality and The Black Contractors Group, Inc.
